Tons of kids loved The Real Thing, and FNM was being somewhat marketed as family friendly, other people called them faggots, and said they weren't real metal. So what was there left to do? Let Mike Patton in charge and write the most angry, heavy, and dark album they've ever made. This album is just pure brilliance.
'Land Of Sunshine' is the opener, and just by this song, you can tell this is going to be a sarcastic and dark album. With choice lines such as "You are an angel headed for the land of sunshine...and fortune is smiling upon you!" followed by laughter from the whole band.
'Caffeine' is one of the darkest songs on the album, about being pushed too far and exploding. The middle is the highlight, with a bassline that keeps repeating itself for around 20 or 30 seconds before leading into metal with Mike screaming "I'm warning you!" a few times.
'Midlife Crisis' is possibly one of the best songs they've ever written, I can't find a single flaw with this song, with tribal-drumming, Mike grunt-rapping and singing perfectly, and with a three-person harmony, this song is just all around perfection.
'RV' is a song about southern life. Humorous. But not anything really out of the ordinary.
'Smaller And Smaller' is a good song. Has a nice guitar solo in it.
'Everything's Ruined' is a great song. And has a hilarious video. It's about putting all of your faith into someone and having them ruin everything. "He made us proud, he made us rich, but how were we supposed to know he's counterfeit?".
'Malpractice' is a metal song about...disturbingly, a woman who loves being operated on because she loves the feeling of it.
'Kindergarten' is funk-metal. Has some awesome bass work, and Mike is hilarious when he keeps yelling in the background like an auctioneer.

'Be Aggressive' is a funk-metal song about... gay oral sex. It features cheerleaders singing the chorus: "Be aggressive! B-E aggressive! B-E-A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E!", and an awesome guitar solo.
'A Small Victory' is a pop-song written about Mike's dad, and how he'll never be a winner in his eyes, or something like that. It's nice.
'Crack Hitler' is pretty much a funk song, with some amazing bass and guitar work. Mike's pretty much always singing into a gasmask, and it has some nice samples of Nazis chanting.
'Jizzlobber' is the most metal song on the album, about doing something and regretting it, or being a pornstar and hating who you are. Mike's screaming along with Jim's guitar work is amazing. Especially when Mike starts screaming rapidly for the chorus. Roddy brings in his great keyboard skills later on, making them sound like a church organ. Beautiful way to end it.
'Midnight Cowboy' is a cover of the theme to the movie Midnight Cowboy from 1969, entirely instrumental, and done much, much better than the original.
'Easy' is a cover of The Commodores' song 'Easy'. AKA 'Easy Like Sunday Morning'. Everything here is done great, from the vocals, to the keyboard, to the great guitar solo. Great way to end the album.
'As The Worm Turns' is a remake of the song from We Care A Lot, only done more metal-like. With Mike on vocals. It isn't on most copies of the CD, but if you contact me, I can send you the MP3 version of it.
I give this album, honestly, a 10/10. Pure brilliance. I can't even describe it with words.
