Linkin Park - Reanimation
A little while after this iconic nu-metal band released their first album, Hybrid Theory, that went on to be critically acclaimed, comes this remix album of several songs that were on that album, some that were on other compilations, and actually does a pretty good job of it, with a good cast of guest-stars appearing.
The songs appearing on this album are basically the same as on their first album, but remixed so heavily and changed that they sound like they could be completely different songs, as songs like 'Points of Authority' appears as 'Pts.Of.Athrty' with a slight industrial-tinge to it, and 'In The End' becomes 'Enth E Nd' with more a hip-hop feeling behind it than ever before, with Kut Masta Kurt joining Mike Shinoda on vocals, and Chester's singing changed significantly.
I can still say I genuinely like a few songs on this album. I can't say a lot about it, given that it's a remix album and not a proper studio album, but it's got its highlights on here and if you were a fan of the original album, you should definitely check this out. Although one small gripe I have with it is that some songs aren't changed that terribly much compared to others, and the instrumental turntable track 'Cure For The Itch' appears on here, remixed, and sounding quite different than the original song. I know it's an album full of remixes, but remixing a turntable track? Really?
