Trust

trust, trust 2010, clive owenI watched this last night, and I'm sad to say I'm really unimpressed. It's a movie about a girl named Annie who gets an online boyfriend, and chances are you can guess where this is going already; he's actually a pedophile. The whole movie revolves around (you guessed it) her getting raped. This isn't a spoiler, because it's practically in the advertisements for the movie itself.

Now, rape is a terrible thing, and I'm not gonna try to downplay that, but man, this movie is a bore. It was kinda entertaining at first, but it quickly launches into the thing you want to see, her meeting up with the pedophile, very early on in the movie. Once that gets done with, the rest of the movie is just sad, depressing, and I hate to say it, but boring to watch, as you're waiting for it all to be over so you can feel good about the ending. The ending was kind of disappointing, to be honest, although it had a good message behind it. Everyone who's seen it can probably tell you the same about it.

Everyone goes on and on about how great the actors are in this movie, like Annie, and her father, played by Clive Owen, but truth is, while they may be good actors, they just became bland to me after a while.

Clive Owen was the best actor, but the sad thing is, with the way they wrote his script, while he is angry at the world for what happened, and that's what a real father would feel, they keep trying to make him out to be some action hero waiting to happen, and it just felt forced to me.

This is possibly one of the most awkward things I've said yet: There are many better movies about rape if you have to watch one. This movie has a good message behind it, a strong one, and for that, I'd give it a 8/10 for the way it presents the message, but a 5/10 for the actual movie. Sorry guys.
