Designers Create Fashionable Easter Bunnies 2012
After last year’s successful Easter egg commission, in which designers elaborately decorated Easter eggs that echoed their brand’s aesthetic, Vogue decided to, once again, ask some of our favorite designers to customize Easter bunnies for the holiday.
According to Vogue, Mulberry dressed up its coveted Bayswater bag in a tail, paws, and bunny ears, while Prabal Gurung decorated an adorable white bunny in a silk-and-wool flower-printed dress.
Model Sasha Pivovarova, The Webster’s Laure Heriard Dubreuil, and jewelry designer Nektar de Stagni also participated. Pivovarova dressed her floppy-eared bunny in a sparkly gold dress, flower hairpiece and polka-dot flats, while Dubreuil and de Stagni adorned chocolate Ladurée bunnies with colorful and dainty jewelry pieces.
Bronson Van Wyck, Nicholas Kirkwood, Joseph Altuzarra, Peter Pilotto, Lulu Frost, Billy Reid, Suno, Dick Page, Opening Ceremony, Bob Recine, Peter Som, Monique Péan, George Esquivel, Dylan Lauren and Christopher Raeburn were some of the participating designers, models and makeup artists.
“[...] each submission so authentically represented the personality of its creator that labels, which were sometimes cleverly attached to hindquarters, weren’t even necessary,” Vogue said of this year’s Easter bunny commission. “As for the colorful confections that were good enough to eat, inedible materials affixed to them kept us from nibbling. That, and they had to be returned to their owners.”
We couldn’t help but fall in love with every single one of the bunnies. The customized projects presented by each of the designers were both unique and creative. Now, if only we could have purchased one of them…
