JFF - "Insomnia" by L2
L2 has sent us their new video for Insomnia, which we've posted below. This POP sister-duo reached out to us at the very beginning of our blogging lives, so we couldn't be more excited to keep you up-to-date with their tunes! Like their other music, Insomnia is pure dance POP, but with a slight rock edge. It's filled with blips and bleeps that keep our heads nodding and our bodies moving. The video, directed by Matt Alonzo (who also directed Far East Movement's Like a G6), is a bit low-budge, but in a cheesy-cute sort of way that puts smiles on our faces. It's filled with thrones, laser-lights, and sequined shoulder-padded hoodies (where can I get one?).
Each song that we receive from L2 is better than the last, so we're really excited to hear what these sisters have up their sleeves! If you like Insomnia as much as we do, you may buy it on iTunes by clicking HERE.
Good luck, girls!

Gregory

JFF - L2 & "My Religion"
Our first encounter with the lovely Labbadia sisters, known as L2, was back when we wrote about their super catchy song Criminal in Bed. Now we’re back with gusto to bring you their latest, the super-soulful love ballad My Religion.
The ladies of L2 have been busy! They were in LA working on new material, & let me tell you, the hard work has paid off. My Religion packs a punch. It's ripe with references to confession, faith, heaven, and miracles. Moreover, the production on My Religion is certified capital. It empowers the ladies’ voices for an extra POW at the chorus. The lyrics are sumptuous and crafty, with verses like “your words are my scripture” and “your body is my temple” sung passionately over a powerPOP beat. My favorite verse, by far, is “it feels like a sin / it feels like a crime / to worship you all the time" (you know I have a thing for words!) It's catchy, clever, and cool. To hear My Religion and more, check out L2's Facebook page and L2 on iTunes.
L2 told us that their next song is called Insomnia. Girls, we're looking forward to it. So until the next single, we only have one thing to say: Sing it sisters!!

Minna

JFF - A “Criminal In Bed” Won’t Do For L2
Sister duo L2 (Melissa and Jessica Labbadia) sent us their new track, “Criminal in Bed” (click here to listen) to review. To be honest, I was surprised at how much I liked it. It’s your standard fun power pop fare. It’s super bubblegum-esque and is definitely danceable. While the production on the verses sounds a bit cheap, overall, it’s quite good. I like the anthemic quality it possesses. It totes brings me back to the Spice Girls’ “GIRL POWER” era of the ‘90s. I can easily envision pre-tween fans of Katy Perry singing this song at the top of their lungs, which worries me a bit because I sincerely hope they’ve never encountered a “Criminal in Bed” and I don’t feel completely comfortable knowing that a song with this kind of content will be marketed to that particular demographic. However, with that said, I can’t imagine what my life would have come to if I hadn’t sung “hit me baby one more time” at the age of eleven. Oh, how I miss the old, exploited Brit Brit. Anyhow, these two gals are probably quite young, so if this is what they’ve got now, I’m sure there will be great things to come. They have a solid track on their hands and I sincerely wish them all the success in the world!
Unapologetically,
Gregory
