Fashion Trends :Short / Mini Tops-A Daring Trend for Spring / Summer

missoni-tops
Missoni
With a clear inspiration from flounced dresses, Italian brand Missoni offer us its Spring / Summer 2012 collection which, of course, also includes short tops.

The Italian brand Miu Miu offer us interesting looks that include high-waisted skirts and tops showing a very thin section of skin.

When you see the pictures of these tops from Nina Ricci, maybe you have to ask yourself: Are they really tops… or bras? Well, that’s the question.

Who says that those bombastic looks with big skirts cannot include trendy elements -such as short tops-? Well, apparently Oscar de la Renta, as seen in the picture below, was able to mix  a trendy top with an elegant (really?) skirt.

Prada
It’s known that Prada is a respected trendsetter every season… and this season won’t be the exception. In the Prada Spring / Summer 2012 collecion there are two remarkable features: High-waisted skirts and some bandeau-shaped tops. A pair of elements that catched the attention on the runways.

Proenza Schouler is also participating in this party. In the picture below, we can see a pair of stylish looks with tiny tops. What do you think? Definitely they are not for cold days, right?

Versace
The new Versace collection for Spring / Summer 2012 is inspired by sea themes. Actually, the Versace fashion show would be cool if a song of  The Little Mermaid is played while the models are on the runway… for example, that song called Under the sea (ok, just kidding  ).

But seriously, the Versace SS 2012 collection is fantastic (see the Full Fashion Show here). It’s a collection full of studs, sea-inspired details and, of course, our topic here: tiny tops.

Viktor & Rolf
The Viktor & Rolf  Spring / Summer 2012 collection was very criticized due to its exagerated style. In this collection, some bold colors  -such as fuchsia pink- were used in tiny tops with strange designs and some details in red. Of course, there is no accounting for taste. Do you like these tops from Viktor & Rolf?
In conclusion, What do you think about this new trend? Do you think that it will be adopted by common people? Although Spring is almost here, maybe Summer is a more appropriate season for this kind of top. And who knows, maybe this year is the time for a small “revolution” in the fashion world. We’ll see.

Ties That Talk. Introducing The Blake Bradford Line of Silk Panel Ties.

Blake Bradford is a new line of handmade silk panel ties on which individual words are printed. The black or white ties have adjectives such as 'complicated', 'elusive', 'rude', 'mysterious', 'dynamic' and 'dangerous' that represent the brand’s core values of individuality, creativity and philanthropy.

The Blake Bradford philosophy is to break free of the attachment to physical things and focus on experiences, ideas and companionship with others. The emphasis is no longer on the articles of clothing a person wears, but on the people themselves.

The process of making a Blake Bradford woven silk panel tie is as unique and striking as the ties themselves. Traditional neckties are made using a pattern that repeats itself on the loom, but a Blake Bradford requires much more attention.

Each and every Blake Bradford panel tie is handmade in Brooklyn, using the exact location of the design as a guide. Even the slightest error in cutting or folding the woven silk would alter the design’s location and appearance of the tie.

Designer Geoffrey Blake conceived of the Blake Bradford woven silk panel tie as a way to identify and/or express oneself in traditionally conservative environments. The choice is yours: button your jacket to conceal your identity, or transform your environment.

Much of the text in this post has been reprinted from the Blake Bradford web site with their permission.

Shades of the Eighties. Emporio Armani's 30th Anniversary Eyewear Collection.

Emporio Armani Eyewear celebrates 30 Colorful Years

1981 – The year Emporio Armani was founded. The fashion was always one step ahead of the times….dynamic, proactive and generously individual.

2011 – Emporio Armani celebrates its 30th anniversary with a capsule eyewear collection that harkens back to the eighties but has a definitively futuristic feel. Iconic silhouettes are revisited with a touch of irony, producing transparent, lightweight and fun, fashionable results.

For him, an ultra-flat teardrop shielded model (EA 9838/S):

and for her, an oversized rounded model (EA 9837/S):

The ‘30th EMPORIO ARMANI’ logo is presented on the front of the frame and the metal signature eagle on the temples:

The color options include brights like pink, red, purple or green or softer shades of brown, shiny grey and smoke grey.

The glasses will be available in monochrome versions from mid-October in Emporio Armani stores, department stores and select opticians and priced at $170.

Also from mid-October, a mini website (which doesn't seem to be up yet) will be launched offering a web experience where personal Emporio Armani 30th Anniversary versions can be created by choosing individual mixes of temples, lenses and logos from an infinity of possible combinations. 1,030 of these customized models will become available.
