Pop Prince #2: Adam Cohen

Adam Cohen,  son of poet, novelist, & legendary folk artist Leonard Cohen, has already earned plenty of musical credibility in his own right.  Canadian-born like his father, Adam fronted the band Low Millions (does this song ring a bell?) in the early 2000s and has released 3 of his own records with labels such as Columbia & Capitol Records.  A celebrated singer-songwriter, Adam also plays the guitar & keyboards.  Does it run in the family?  His father Leonard was hardly ever seen performing without his guitar!  (Watch Leonard Cohen performing  "Sing Another Song Boys" here)

Now Adam Cohen is back, but this time, as a matured songwriter & performer.  "Like A Man" is Cohen's first release since his French-language album in 2004.  Adam described the album as a deeply satisfying - but let the man speak for himself!  Check out an interview with Adam at SXSW by clicking here.  I have to say, this guy will make you believe in agelessness.  Here is a truly creativity & artistic man!

"Like a Man" is surprisingly seductive.  The first single off the album, "What Other Man," features Adam softly serenading his lover: "I know what your hands do when you're kissing / your number one & number two favorite positions / I know how your skin glistens."  Woa!  Sensual.  (Listen to all of "What Other Man" here)
I usually shy away from the overtly mushy stuff, but somehow, Adam perseveres as an inexplicably authentic performer... dare we say it?  Much like papa Cohen himself.

Congratulations Adam Cohen!  You are officially a POP Prince.  We wish "Like a Man" all the success that an honest, artistic album deserves!

Unapologetically,

Minna
